Private Library Enriches Civilization

Just as art museums are often created or sustained by the donations of private art collections, great public libraries are often the result of private libraries. Here, a sophisticated collector has created a library of international importance. This private residential library had to have all of the technical and environmental components of a major public library. When a library is classical, the collection of books and artifacts accessible, and the space prominent, it gives the collection a mystique and intimacy with those visiting or viewing the material.
