Daniel Hannan, a member of the European Parliament, was a guest at the reception at the McGuire estate home in Preston Hollow. Daniel Hannan made remarks in this Preston Hollow presidential library.
Juan Williams at Small Reception at Park City Club in Preston Center
Juan Williams was even more engaging in person than on NPR. He made a very interesting comment on the difference in discussing issues with liberals and conservatives. He said conservatives attack his ideas when they disagree with him, liberals attacks him personally when they disagree with him.
NCPA Hosts Juan Williams
NCPA, one of the country’s most important think tanks, invited Juan Williams to speak at the Belo Mansionin Dallas. Business leader extraordinaire Allen Questrom and his wife Kelli, a national leader in the arts, shared ideas before the talk.

Grand Celebration of Center for Performing Arts
Dallas now has a place for the arts and for the people of Dallas, that the residents of Dallas will enjoy and international visitors will enjoy in the heart of downtown Dallas. Homeowners from Munger Place to Highland Park,from Greenway Parks to Oak Cliff, from Preston Hollow to Lakewood, from Bent Tree to Turtle Creek Park were all filled with excitement and pride at the success of this effort in downtown Dallas. On the dance floor celebrating were great Dallas citizens and art patrons Deedie Rose of Highland Park, Cindy Rachofsky of Preston Hollow and Marguerite Hoffman, also of Preston Hollow, Mayor Tom Leppert and Margaret McDermott’s granddaughter, Grace Cook.
Opening of the Wyly Theater
Preston Hollow homeowner John Dayton, instrumental in the success of the Center for Performing Arts and the Wyly Theater, attended the Rem Koolhaas, Joshua Prince-Ramus designed theater opening along with many other Dallas enthusiasts, including Pete and Caren Kline, also Preston Hollow homeowners. The opening showed off the flexibility of the theater, including opening the rear wall to show the plaza.
Opening of Winspear Opera House
There was incredible excitement and exuberance for the opening night of the Winspear Opera House. Chairperson of the festivities and Highland Park resident, Jeanne Marie Clossey, did a spectacular job. Another Highland Park homeowner, Margaret McDermott, infuses everyone with Dallas pride and inspires with her gentle guidance. Volk Estates homeowner Nancy Marcus and her sister, a Turtle Creek Park homeowner, Nelda Cain, continue to make great contributions to the city and much elegance to any party. Mayflower Estates homeowners Ruth and Ken Altshuler are great civic leaders in the arts, education and health.
Architect Lord Norman Foster Discusses Winspear Opera House
London architect Lord Norman Foster came back to Dallas for the opening of the Winspear Opera House to discuss with the Dallas and Highland Park audience the goals, concept and achievement of the Winspear Opera House. This is the only opera house in the world built primarily with private funds, showing the generous spirit of Dallas and Highland Park homeowners, business owners and corporate leaders.
Polyphonic Spree Comes to TEDxSMU
Tim DeLaughter and Polyphonic Spree captured and enthralled the TEDxSMU audienceat the University Park SMU campus. Tim DeLaughter has the remarkable ability to unify an audience of all ages and interests. With his energetic and spellbinding performance leading his choral symphonic rock group and the audience, he epitomized the energy of TED. Philanthropic and civic leaders from Highland Park, Preston Hollow, Volk Estates, Turtle Creek, downtown, Lakewood, Bluffview, Greenway Parks and Oak Cliff joined artists, entrepreneurs, engineers and business leaders interested in technology, entertainment and design.
