Nasher Sculpture Center Presents Conversation with Robert Duvall

Javier’s Gourmet Mexicano restaurant across the Katy Trail from Highland Park is the perfect place to go after a Thursday night art opening at Dunn and Brown Contemporary, celebrate on weekends, or join the many Highland Park residents as they enjoy their weekly Sunday night dinner at Javier’s. Preston Hollow homeowner Javier Gutierrez, with his Ferrari parked bythe front door, andbeautifully dressed in Italian suits, greets loyal guests and out of town visitors with an elegance that has made Javier’s a Dallas institution for over thirty years.


Art collectors, architects, and artists, including artist Sam Gummelt and photographer Nan Coulter, came to see David Bates and his recent paintings. David Bates, a classmate of mine who received his art degree from SMU, has received international acclaim as an artist, and his work can be seen in many of the architecturally significant homes in Dallas.

The Dallas Art Fair had an opening reception at the downtown DallasNeiman Marcus store for artists, gallery owners, and patrons of the arts who live in the Dallas neighborhoods and neighborhoods withinUniversity Park and Highland Park, along with artists who came in from outside Dallas. Deep Ellum gallery owner Barry Whistler and his wife, artist and photographer Allison V. Smith, attended andcharmed the participants.


50 Yard Line of Dallas Cowboys Game

Maybe the most valuable real estate in Dallas is not in Highland Park but the real estate on the 50 yard line of the Dallas Cowboys stadium. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has his real estate covered both ways. He has a Cole Smith designed home in the heart of Highland Park and the owner’s box is a few rows up on, of course, the 50 yard line.


Brinker Series Brings Arctic Photographer on Sub Freezing Night to Downtown Dallas

Photographer Paul Nicklen came down from the Yukon to speak at the Brinker International Lecture series on his spectacular National Geographic photographs taken in the Arctic. Everyone in Dallas was terribly concerned with the rare 20 degree weather which quite amused the speaker who has taken photographs in 80 degrees below freezing.
