The Winspear Opera House – Perfect Setting for Brinker International Lecture Series Film Lecture Panel

The Winspear Opera House was the setting for film directors and producers, Bob Balaban, Peter Guber and Brett Ratner, and moderator Campbell Brown, discussing the economic and artistic direction of small independent films and major blockbusters. Afterwards, participants walked to the area bars and restaurants at One Arts Plaza across from the Wyly Theatre to continue the conversation.

Dallas Film Festival Opens at Angelika in Mockingbird Station

DALLAS International Film Festival opening ceremonies included Michael Cain, Chairman of the DALLAS Film Society, Mayor Tom Leppert, Liener Temerlin, Founder & Chairman Emeritus of the DALLAS Film Society, and other dignitaries. There was a mad dash at the box office next to Hotel Palomar Dallas for tickets and patrons to pick up passes. The excitement continued across Dallas at the Magnolia Theatre in West Village, Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center in the downtown Dallas Arts District, and Studio Movie Grill in north Dallas. Film directors, producers, and actors discussed the films in the theatre, lobby, and parties afterward.


The Eugene McDermott Terrace at the Meadows Museum Displays Sculpture by Jaume Plensa

The Meadows Museum at SMU in University Park has the finest collection of Spanish art outside of Spain. Artist Jaume Plensa created Sho as the centerpiece of the renovated terrace.


Tate Lecture Discusses 21st Century Russia

SMU and Dallas civic leader, Ruth Altshuler, Governor and Mrs. Bill Clements, and other prominent Dallas and Park Cities residents came to hear Ian Bremmer and Stephen Hadley discuss 21st Century Russia: U.S. Relations in the Post-Soviet World. Highland Park residents, Gregg and Molly Engles, sponsored this lecture held at SMU.
